Dr Nova Thani is working as Neurosurgical Registrar in the West Australian Neurosurgical Service. Dr Thani trained in medicine and surgery at Monash University, Melbourne and completed his first year of advanced neurosurgical training in Perth in 2008. Dr Thani has ambitions to specialise in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery and will be joining the Surgical NeuroDiscovery Group's research programme full-time in 2010 as the Surgical NeuroDiscovery Fellow. Dr Thani is involved in implementing the MRI-directed guide tube technique with Mr Lind and is writing clinical papers in movement disorder surgery. Dr Thani has particular interests in the mechanism of deep brain stimulation surgery and its role in movement disorders such as essential tremor and dystonia.
