Friday, 06 June 2008 17:53

Research Scientist

Dr Thomas directs the Surgical NeuroDiscovery Group's laboratory research. She has a strong desire to help the sufferers of Parkinson's disease by dedicating her career to the search for a cure for Parkinson's disease. In 2008 she teamed up with Mr Lind to form the scientific nucleus of the Group and is doing research into the role of the gene expression regulating proteins Pax6 and Pax7 and developing new approaches to controlling stem cells which may one day be part of a cure for Parkinson's disease. Combining this with strategies for neurosurgical delivery, the Group is well placed to translate laboratory advances into neurosurgical practice.
